Superintendent Requests
64. Reminder

Minutes: The Superintendent reminded the School Board members of the annual letter received from the County Attorney's office requesting the appointment of 1 Board Member and 1 Clay County Citizen to serve on the Value Adjustment Board.  The School Board will need to take action to appoint these individuals at the next regular board meeting, July 21, 2011.

Minutes: 

The Board members commented on the end of the year activities and graduations attended all around Clay County.

Lisa Graham asked Jim Connell to give an update on projects underway at various schools this summer.  Mr. Connell highlighted the following projects:  Update of ceilings and lighting at Middleburg High School; the remodeling of Building 1 and administration area at Middleburg Elementary; updating HVAC units at several schools, renovations, roofings and many smaller projects, as well as, moving relocatable buildings.

Carol Studdard asked Mr. Connell for the status of the letter sent to the BCC regarding any interest in merging School Board and Comissioner districts.  Mr. Connell reported he has had contact with the County Manager and the Commissioners have expressed some interest.  Mr. Connell will provide monthly updates to the Board.

Mr. Farrell wished all employees a great summer and thank you for a job well done.  To the retirees, he expressed his respect for their dedicated committment to Clay County schools.

Dr. Copeland reminded the Board of the workshop on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fleming Island High School Media Center.
